 Trained at Kyoaji, owner chef Jun Kurogi keeps a sharp eye on how other chefs are preparing the food, but is also very attentive to all of his customers whether they are sitting at the counter or at a table.  『京味』出身の大将、黒木純氏は料理に厳しく目を光らせながらもカウンターやテーブルの多くの客に対する気配りも素晴らしい。

 One of Kurogi's specials is Fukinotoh-gomatofu (Japanese butterbur scape and sesame tofu). Outside is crisp and inside sticky. &nbsp;The aroma and bitterness of fukinotoh is amazing.  『くろぎ』の名物のひとつ「ふきのとう胡麻豆腐」は外が香ばしく、仲がねっとり。ふきのとうの香りと苦味が素晴らしい。

 The way hassun (appetizers made of ingredients from the sea or mountains) isn't flashy at all but each piece has been taking a good amount of time to prepare and is keenly delicious.  八寸の見せ方は決して派手ではないが、ひとつひとつに手間をかけていて、どれもがしみじみ美味しい。

 Grilled salmon and salmon row rice has much more salmon roe than Kyoaji's special, grilled fatty salmon belly and salmon row rice. &nbsp;The salmon is fluffy and by mixing it with sticky salmon roe it is rich and delicious.  「鮭とイクラの土鍋ご飯」は、『京味』の名物「鮭ハラスご飯」に更に大量のイクラが入っていてふっくら鮭と新鮮なねっとりイクラがご飯と混ざり合って芳醇な美味しさです。

 Warabi-mochi (bracken-starch dumplings) is carefully kneaded. &nbsp;Soft in texture and taste, covered with high-quality kinako (roasted soy flour) which has a elegant taste and makes you want to come back to Kugori just to eat this.  丁寧に練り込まれた「わらび餅」の優しい味と食感、周りのきな粉の上質で品のある味わい、これだけを食べに『くろぎ』に来たくなるほどです。
